Hello world! That's a little humor for those software developers out there... I thought my first post on the blog could be about something simple... like how to record a voiceover for a Short Commercial Script. Well, here are the basics. If you are new to doing voice-overs or are a client looking for someone to do a voice-over for your business, this is what you can expect to take place.

  1. There's going to be a script handed to the voice actor so, the voice actor will do a Script Review: to understand the tone, style, and message of the commercial or narrative.

  2. Agreement on the project: Once the script is agreed upon and the voice actor is clear about what the client is looking for, it is time to start recording.

  3. Recording Takes: The voice actor begins recording either in their studio or at a fixed location, reading the script multiple times to capture different takes. They adjust their tone, pace, and emphasis to match the desired style of the commercial or narrative.

  4. Direction and Feedback: The director or client provides feedback and direction to the artist, guiding them to achieve the desired performance. This can happen with an exchange of excerpts of the full recording (files).

  5. Editing and Mixing: After recording, the audio engineer edits the best takes, removing any mistakes or inconsistencies. They also mix the voice recording with any background music or sound effects. The voice actor may also have these capabilities in their studio.

  6. Final Review: The artist and client listen to the edited recording to ensure it meets their expectations. Any necessary revisions are made at this stage.

  7. Delivery: Once approved, the final voice-over recording is delivered to the client in the desired format, such as MP3 or WAV files.

  8. Post-Production: The client may further process the voice recording, such as adding it to the commercial video or broadcasting it on radio or television.

  9. Payment and Feedback: The client pays the voice-over artist for their services, and both parties provide feedback on the collaboration.

In this scenario, the voice-over artist's role is to bring the script to life with their vocal performance and ensure the recording is of high quality and ready for use in the commercial space.
